The map view enables interactive exploration of your assets using a visual map interface.
Circles lacking numerical labels indicate individual assets, while circles with numbers denote clusters of assets.

How to open the map view
The map view can be accessed either publicly or privately:
- The Private Map View allows your registered users to explore your assets using a map interface. Once logged in, simply click the Map button just to the right of the Asset List button.
- The Public Map View allows your visitors to explore your assets using a map interface. Only assets that you've configured to be shown on your Public Homepage will be displayed in the Public Map View. The administrators of a Nira organization can also disable the Public Map View entirely, and control whether to show the Map or List by default - see the Public Map View and home page settings section near the end of this article to learn how.
Which assets can appear on a Map View?
Only assets that are uploaded with georeferenced data or assets with a manually set location will be shown on a Map View.
- To export and upload your assets with georeferenced data, follow our export guide for your application.
- To manually configure the location of an asset that doesn't have georeferenced data:
-
- Log into your Nira organization.
- Click on the asset in your list to open its asset preview window.
- Within the asset preview window, click the Set Location button.
- In the dialog that appears, enter a latitude, longitude, and altitude for the asset and click Save.
Asset location entry dialog: You may also click Delete Location to remove location data from an asset. Keep in mind that manually setting your location will not have the benefits of properly exporting your models using georeferenced data. It is recommended you follow our export guide for your application.
Viewing assets using the Map View
1. Click on a circle on the map:
2. This will open a dialog with the asset's information:
In a Private Map view, this dialog may have asset sharing and editing options.
3. Click Press here to view to view the asset.
Multiple Assets within a region (Clusters)
You may have several assets that are relatively close together given the map's current zoom level. To give the map a cleaner look, these are represented as a single numbered circle:
A cluster of 12 assets within a region
Zooming into the region will automatically de-cluster these circles whenever appropriate, allowing you to see an individual circle for each asset. Alternatively, you can click on a numbered circle at any time to show a list of the assets within that cluster:
Clicking an asset in the list will open a dialog with the asset's information:
Public Map View and home page settings
Administrators of an organization can navigate to their Admin Dashboard (three lines in the top left corner) > Homepage & Map section to access some Map related settings:
- [x] Allow public Map View controls whether public visitors to your Nira URL will have access to a map view. This setting is only relevant if you've also configured at least one asset to be shown on your Public Homepage. Learn more about your Public Homepage.
- Default public homepage determines what public visitors to your Nira URL will see by default - a List or a Map. This setting is only relevant if you've also configured at least one asset to be shown on your Public Homepage. Learn more about your Public Homepage.
Public Map View: This organization has the [x] Allow public Map View option checked, so the Map button is available to its visitors in addition to the default List mode.
