Nira uses WebAssembly to perform high speed hashing and quickly compress your data as its being sent to our server, which is how Nira is able to accelerate uploads. Unfortunately, Microsoft Edge disables WebAssembly when "Enhanced Security Mode" is enabled along with its "Strict" security level, which Microsoft "does not recommend for most users as it would require some level of configuration to complete daily tasks". If you've received the error message "Microsoft Edge has disabled WebAssembly, which is required by the Nira uploader" when trying to upload files, it probably means your Edge browser is configured in this Strict mode. Read on for several different solutions.
Note: The Microsoft Edge WebAssembly issue only impacts uploading, and you can always use Edge to view assets, regardless of how it's configured.
Option 1: Use Firefox or Chrome
Firefox and Chrome always support WebAssembly by default, so using either of these browsers should work fine out of the box. See option 2 and 3 below if you'd still like to use Edge to upload files to Nira.
Option 2: Add an exception
1. Open the Microsoft Edge Options by clicking the "..." button in the upper-right corner, then clicking the "Settings" menu item.
2. On the left, click "Privacy, search, and services"
3. Scroll down until you find the "Enhance your security on the web" section, then click the "Exceptions" option within this section.
4. On the next screen, click the "Add a site" button.
5. In the dialog that appears, enter your Nira site. If your Nira site is mynirasite.nira.app, type this into the dialog and click the "Add" button. An example is shown below. Be sure to enter your actual Nira site, not the example shown in the screenshot below.
6. Important: After clicking "Add", you must Close all Edge browser windows (or reboot your computer), then open Edge and try your upload again.
Option 3: Use the "Balanced" security level
1. Open the Microsoft Edge Options by clicking the "..." button in the upper-right corner, then clicking the "Settings" menu item.
2. On the left, click "Privacy, search, and services"
3. Scroll down until you find the "Enhance your security on the web" section, then click the "Balanced" option in this section. A screenshot below shows the button to click on.
4. Important: After clicking "Balanced", you must Close all Edge browser windows (or reboot your computer), then open Edge and try your upload again.
